excellent and rare set from the highly respected roots group cultural roots originally released in 1984, which is now re mastered and gets a vinyl repress for the first in well over 20 years. recorded at channel one studios, jamaica, produced by henry junjo lawes, mixed by scientist and utilising the talents of the roots radics, this album still sounds as fresh and thrilling as it did when it was originally released. the albums features the popular love feelings, cut of john holts evergreen police in helicopter rhythm and the big hit hell a go pop a big favourite with reggae sound systems during 1984.

for its 12th release, the good peeps at guess who are dropping the goods with this four track sampler from a fine roster of underground stalwarts. choice jacking, chicago and r&b booty flavors as we ve come to expect from the label, with tommy largos jazzy saxes and filtered grooves abundant on need sum money, while buck nakeds cool rhodes keys and buzzing bass turn the tribe called quest classic stressed out into a smooth deep house affair. busys took a pill is a dirty south hip hop housey joint while phonograms really down is a cool party track with r&b vocals galore. excellent dancefloor and party material here

the original battle 12 was released almost exactly a year ago, but its taken 12 months for them to release henry smithsons astonishing take on the other half of that release. thankfully it was worth the wait. monster wasnt your typical lindstrom production in the first place, but now riton has thoroughly rewired it as a dynamic electronic house circuit, referencing the norwegian disco style with slight choral parts, tight string stings and keyboard arpeggios. the whole effect is very much greater than the sum of these parts, executed as it is with a rigorous attitude

the breaks godfathers are back! while the mad in sicily parties are literally burning catania blatta & inesha have now ready two new super tracks. first one, afraid is rooty and funk at the same time with sprinkles that make it wink to houz lovers. on the flip, the result of a meeting with friend dj afghan, funk siciliano is the sum of traditional sounds mixed with black and dubby rhythms. nothing more fresher after this very hot summer

mesak s 3rd twelve inch on dexter s own klakson records. one half of electro duo mr velcro fastener comes back with his solo project mesak. and brings probably his best release to date.. at least it is his most danceable release ever. our favorite is the jacking let get sum bang which rocks every club for sure!! the other tracks are more electrofied techno-ish tracks which reminds us of some classic carl craig work including the outstanding pak track. like all klakson releases this is another hot one. very much what we like!

pilocka krach still means nothing but pilocka noise. sheÕs the charming queen of berlins post techno underground and a true recording & perfoming artist. her new release on her very own imprint greatest hits international is a conceptional framed double vinyl album and a journey diary of her last two years on tour around the globe, with mexico, detroit and her hometown roots in berlin as fixpoints on her neverending agenda. pilocka krach is ãsugar caneÒ & ãthe lost amigosÒ, her band and all at once. her style is pure electro post rave simplicity, where each single sound is either raw sampling cuts or deep growling synthesis. big basslines meet funky grooves and surprising hooks, grooving along with her own voice and a lot of other vocal features, whereever you go. each Ôn everthing gets the room it deserves and mingles alltogether to so much more, than just another stereo sum. never heard an album that dry and that wet at the same time, with an overall fun and jam factor, that is truly touching. she took her original style more than just a few steps further and sharpened her skills in an impressive and real straight forward way of raw funkyness and true storytelling. you canÕt listen to it without moving. pilocka is always surfing the right balance of how much, or better how less it needs, to keep it going, get down to the point of no return and beyond the miracle of repetition.
